When you have adverse credit, you are most likely under the impression you won’t get the chance to own your own home. Here’s the thing: bad credit doesn’t have to mean that you’re stuck in a cycle of renting for the rest of your life. If you know where to look, there are places that will accept you for a mortgage with bad credit. 1st Mortgage Services know where to look and are there to help you find the right mortgage for your bad credit situation. There are always deals available, we can just give you the helping hand you need to find them.
We are a very supportive bunch, we like to find solutions and, most importantly, we don’t judge!
What Is An Adverse Credit Mortgage?
To be quite honest, you’ll never walk into somewhere and tell them that you need a bad credit mortgage. They don’t exist. A mortgage for someone with adverse credit is one that is a standard mortgage on the market, the difference is that you’ll get a mortgage from a lender willing to offer it to you despite your credit history. With a sub-prime mortgage, you could find that your interest rates and charges are higher than the standard on the market, and this is because those with adverse credit are deemed to be less likely to pay the mortgage on time.
But hopefully this is only for the short-term, eventually your credit history will clear (subject to you keeping up to date with all your repayments on any credit) and at this time you may be accepted on a normal high street lender mortgage. By dealing with it, the worry, stress and anxiety goes. Set your goals, put the work in, and you’re setting yourself up to achieve them.
Can I Get A Mortgage With Bad Credit?
The interest rate on an adverse credit mortgage can be higher than a standard mortgage and you will more than likely need a larger deposit to hand, first. You will still need to fit the lenders criteria, and they all differ.
A great way to help us find the right mortgage for your needs is to have a recent copy of your full credit report so that our advisers can see what the lenders can see, in terms of your credit history. Armed with this detail, we can then look to find a lender that matches your needs.
Do I have Adverse Credit?
Most people know whether they have a bad credit history given that it’s their circumstances and financial behaviours that dictate their credit history. But there are some things that can affect your credit score that you may not be aware of. Here are some of those things:
- If you’ve been declared bankrupt or have had a debt management plan like an IVA.
- Missing credit card payments, loan payments or previous rent or mortgage payments.
- You have CCJs against your name
Always get a look at your credit report before you start looking around with 1st Mortgage Services for your adverse credit mortgage
Getting a Mortgage
As with standard mortgages, there are deals available for fixed, variable and discounted mortgage rates. This doesn’t necessarily mean that there will be better rates than a standard mortgage and most of the time, the opposite to this is usually the case. A mortgage provider has less of a reason to loan you a larger loan to value if your credit history is bad.
1st Mortgage Services can guide you through the process and help you find a great adverse credit mortgage deal. For more information call today: 01845 501830.
